This rebrand of the Otago Museum was all about unearthing a deeper understanding of culture and the world around us. Partnerships were key. Initially, building on the values and masterplan created by Aukaha, which resulted in the gifting of the Tūhura name. Then, working closely with two Māori artists, Simon Kaan and Andre Te Hira, to develop a contemporary brand derived from traditional Māori visual language, and narratives specific to the Otago region.
